Aircraft Show Their Paces
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. It was more than a thrill a minute as aircraft of four air forces showed their paces at Auckland international airport this afternoon. Supersonic jets screamed across the airport in thrilling dives, bombers roared past in spectacular manoeuvres, and parachutists dropped from the sky in the full-scale rehearsal of tomorrow’s air pageant. Only a few hundred spectators were fortunate enough to see this preview of the military display.
British and American or Australian and New Zealand machines flew side by side to provide the, thrills of splitsecond timing. Paratroopers from Singapore made a free fall from 12,000 ft, trailing coloured smoke.
