Soloist With Orchestra
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. Henri Bittar, a French violinist of international fame, will be a soloist in the N.Z.B.C. Symphony Orchestra’s prom season in Christchurch next month. A former member of the music faculty at the University of New Mexico, Mr Bittar joined the orchestra last September. He is the only Frenchman in the orchestra. Trained by his father, also a violinist of some note, he studied for 10 years with the French virtuoso. Jacques Thibaud. He has been acknowledged throughout-the world as one of France’s leading violinists and has won particular acclaim as an interpreter of French works.
