DIPPING FAILURES
It appeared that farmers were not giving enough attention to their dipping techniques, said Mr A. R- Diack, a livestock instructor with the Department of Agriculture in Christchurch, when he reported, after the store sheep sale at Addington market on Wednesday, that three of the nine separate lines of sheep found to be lice infested at the yards this week had been recently dipped. On two of the recently dipped lines he said adult lice had been found alive. The infestation on the sheep was very light and perhaps a little lighter than last year, said Mr Diack, but still too many sheep were coming forward with lice on them. Of the 2500 sheep found lice infested this week out of the yarding of 14,205 all but 330 were lambs. Most were from North Canterbury and Kaikoura. Last week 1824 sheep, again mainly lambs, in six lines were found to be infested.
