New Class Building I <N.Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright l NEW YORK. Jan. 20. America is building a new class of nuclear-powered submarine. This was disclosed in an announcement yesterday that the Navy had awarded the Sperry Rand Corporation a 1,850,000-dollar contract to design and construct the instrument panel. The submarine, known as NRI, is a deep-diving underwater research and oceanengineering vehicle. It will make detailed studies
and mapping of the ocean floor and locate and retrieve objects of commercial, scientific and military value, according to Sperry Rand.
