Two Die In Road Accidents
A young man and a boy were killed on Christchurch roads yesterday. They were Euan Wigram Dallard, aged 21, of 15 Ferner street, and Graeme Tweedie, aged 10, the son of Mr R. Tweedie, of 37 Cutts road. Mr Dallard was the driver of a late model ear which crashed into a pole opposite 65 Pages road, about 12.35 a.m. yesterday. The car hit the pole alongside the driver’s door and was wrecked. Mr Dallard was taken to hospital by St. John ambulance but was found to be dead on arrival. The police ask any witnesses of the accident to call at the motor accident branch at the Central Police Station. Graeme Tweedie suffered severe head injuries when his bicycle and a car collided at the intersection of Epsom road and Greenhurst road about 4.42 p.m. He was taken to hospital but was found to be dead on arrival. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED A motor-cyclist suffered moderately serious injuries when he struck the kerbing outside 152 Hackthorne road about 8.15 a.m. yesterday. The rider. Wayne Keith Jones, of 122 Paterson street, suffered injuries to his head and a fractured left arm. He was admitted to hospital, where his condition last night was fairly satisfactory. COLLISIONS
Three persons suffered minor injuries when a car collided with the rear of a bus in Victoria street, near Durham street, about 8.35 a.m. yesterday. They are Mrs J. Reihara, of 443 Madras street Mrs H. Rangi, of Temuka, and Mr Thomas Rangi Tuuta, of 29 Norrie street All were treated at hospital and discharged. Mr T. Woodbury, of 86 Pretoria street, suffered head injuries when a car and a truck collided at the intersection of Harewood road and Matson avenue about 1.26 a.m. He was treated at hospital and discharged. Two members of the Russley Hotel staff were injured when a car and a motor-cycle collided at the intersection of Memorial avenue and Russley road about 3.3 p.m. yesterday.
Both suffered minor Injuries and were treated at hospital and discharged. They are Miss Margaret Northrop and Mr Leo Geerets. Mr E. P. Anthony, of 42 Torrens road, was admitted to hospital after his motorcycle and a car collided at the corner of Lincoln road and Barrington street about 5.47 p.m. yesterday. His condition last night was fairly comfortable.
