THIEVES DID NOT HIDE
Blew Safe In Sight Of Road (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 6. Under interior lighting and in full view of the road, safebreakers used explosives to blow off the door of a safe at the Otara Service Station, Otahuhu, about 2.25 a.m. today. They stole about £350. The noise of the explosion was mistaken by nearby residents for a car backfiring. Thieves stole three television sets, about 350 longplaying records and a cash register holding about £3B from the R.C.A. Victor Record Club’s premises in Auckland last night. The haul was worth about £875. ■■■■■■■■■■
