TROTTING OFF

Trying Bor Easter Date (X.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH. The second night of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s summer meeting scheduled for last night was abandoned because of unfavourable weather conditions. The club will apply for another date so that it will be able to run a two-night meeting at Easter. The chief stipendiary steward, Mr L. A. Butterfield, declared the track safe for racing after an inspection late in the morning and the club’s executive held a special meeting later in the day. It was decided to abandon the meeting when steady rain, which had fallen unabated from the previous day, showed no signs of lifting. A special weather forecast gave no hope of a change for the better.
