Thrills From Tuna

GISBORNE, Jan. 5. Tuna arc running in large numbers between Waihau Bay and Cape Runaway and during the holiday season have c'ven amateur fishermen many, thrills. Mr H. Dutton, of Waihau Bay has been experimenting with new methods of taking these fine fighting fish. From his 16ft 6in launch Moeone Mr Dutton caught a 1041 b yel-low-tail tuna after a fight
lasting an hour and three-
quarters. Mr Dutton used tackle with a 501 b breaking strain. An Auckland visitor working from a boat has caught three yellowtails. The largest of these weighed 1081 b and the other two were just under 1001 b each. Feather lures of green or red are usually used. Most of the tuna have been near schools of porpoises.
