EXCHANGE RATES
The £N.Z. gained slightly on the United States dollar last week, but lost a little ground to the Canadian dollar. Fluctuations in other currencies were only slight, Belgium, Australia and Norway gaining fractionally on the £N.Z. The Netherlands, and West Germany each conceded the odd point. Altered telegraphic transfer exchange rates, as advised by the Bank of New South Wales, Were; New Zealand on
New York: Buy, 2.7980 dollars to £N.Z. (compared with 2.7976 dollars on December 17): selling, 2.7663 dollars (2.7659). Canada: 3.0096 dollars (3.0110); 2.9712 dollars (2.9725).
Austria: 72.69 schillings (72.70); 71.14 schillings (71.15). Belgium: 139.60 francs (139.80); 136.60 francs (136.70). Denmark: 19.36 kroner (19.37); 18.95 kroner (same). France: 13.79 francs (same); 13.49 francs (13.50).
Italy; 1757 lire (1758); 1720 lire (same). Netherlands: 10.16 guilders (10.15); 9.94 guilders (9.93). Norway: 20.09 kroner (20.10); 19.66 kroner (19.67). Sweden: 14.56 kroner (same); 14.25 kroner (14.24). Switzerland: 12.15 francs (same); 11.88 francs (11.89).
West Germany: 11.26 deutsche marks (11.25); 11.02 deutsche marks (11.01).
