TOKYO, Dec. 29.

There was little prospect for improved “co-operative ties” between Indonesia and the United States, said the Indonesian Defence Minister (General Nasution). “As long as Indonesia's policy contradicts the United State’s there is little hope for improvement,” he said. General Nasution was answering questions submitted by the correspondent of the Japanese Kyodo News Agency in Djakarta. He said Indonesia hoped to co-operate with all countries in the world “but we also firmly conform to the principles of our revolution.” General Nasution expressed surprise at the proposal of West Java legislators that President Sukarno appoint him Vice-President, the Armed Forces Bulletin reported yesterday. General Nasution said he had had nothing to do with the proposal and “regretted” the reports because they might arouse misinterpretattion, the bulletin said.
