Waimairi’s Two-Minute Town-Planning Meeting
“This has been our shortest meeting ever, and I wish you the compliments of the season,” said the chairman (Mr O. C. Mitchell), concluding a two-minute special meeting of the Waimairi County Council on Friday afternoon. The meeting, to make two formal decisions on townplanning questions, was delayed until a quorum of five councillors arrived. An application by Middleton Grange School, Arthur street. Upper Riccarton, for the addition of a secondary block, was approved, subject to advertising for objections, as a conditional use in a residential A area. Conditions were that offstreet parking be provided for staff cars, that Arthur street and Suva street entrances be provided and maintained, that . the site, height and plans for I the building be those approvI ed bv the council, and that I the school take action to stop 1 water ponding on neighbour- ■ ing properties. ■ An application by B. J. Hod■ier for a conditional use perKpit to establish a cabinet-
maker’s workshop at 425 Main North road, in a residential A zone, was approved as a conditional use. The chairman of the townplanning committee (Cr. R. C. Neville) said one objection, lodged under a misapprehension. had been withdrawn.
At the end of the meeting, councillors adjourned to the yard, where Mr Mitchell thanked the outside staff, and wished them the compliments of the season.
