WOMAN’S DEATH
Young Man Remanded (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 27. Eric Brown, aged 24, an apprentice electrician, entered no plea when he was charged in the Auckland Magistrate's Court today with the murder in Auckland on December 24 of Mrs Louise Tavita, an aunt by marriage. Brown, who was represented by Mr K. Ryan, was remanded in custody until January 10. Mr C. E. H. Pledger, S.M., was on the bench. Brown was arrested after a shooting incident at Avondale on Christmas Eve. Two other women were injured by shots. They are Mrs Luneta Brown, aged 23, mother of three children, who has bullet wounds in the chest and a leg, and her sister, Miss Bertha Mary Waterhouse, aged 26, a typist, who has stomach wounds. The condition of Mrs Brown, who is in the Auckland Hospital, was today described as a little better. Miss Waterhouse has been transferred to the Middlemore Hospital, where her condition is satisfactory.
