WELLINGTON, Dec. 26.
The Argentine Minister of Agriculture (Mr Kugler), who is in New Zealand on a twoweek visit, will investigate the application of New Zealand taxation incentives, with a view to increasing farm production in Argentina. He will also investigate the New Zealand methods of wool handling and selling.
In his country farmers sold their wool direct to brokers who toured the country and often the condition and quality of the wool left much to be desired.
Wool was not sold centrally at auctions and as a result farmers in outlying areas were very much under the brokers’ control.
Mr Kugler said that Argentina was intensely interested in the operation of the International Wool Secretariat and maintained close relations with that body, but could not foresee that his country would became a member for many years.
Farmers in Argentina were very impressed by New Zealand’s developments in farm-
ing, particularly In grasslands improvement, he said. Argentina hoped to be able to send more young people to New Zealand for training at universities and other institutions.
Dr. Kugler said that during his visit he hoped to renew acquaintance with a number of New Zealand agricultural scientists and to find out more about developments at Ruakura, which in his opinion was one of the leading institutions of its kind in the world.
