Good Otaki Trial

Final trials at Otaki on Saturday revealed no “Christmas gifts” for the second day of the Manawatu Racing Club's meeting at Awapuni today.
Three horses took the eye, Devastation, High Society and Patanga, and of the three Patanga was the most impressive. Work was done on the fence of the course proper. Patanga and First Mink started fast at the mile and went strongly to the half-mile they eased a little from there, running the last four furlongs in 54sec and the final three in 41sec. Patanga was working evenly in front at the finish.
As was expected, Devastation beat Te Aro in their trial over half a mile in 48sec. the final three furlongs in 36sec. This was a fast trial, but both are class horses.
High Society was impressive when beating Point Duty over five furlongs in 1:3 1-5, the final three furlongs in 38 3-ssec.
