CAUGHT IN RIP
Two Children On Mattresses Two children, both aged about 10, were rescued from the surf at North Beach yesterday when the rubber air mattresses on which they had been floating were carried out to sea by a strong rip. A member of the North Reach Surf Life-saving Club swam out and assisted the children back to the beach Neither required further assistance. A member of the club said there had been a strong southerly rip at the beach for most of the day. It had carried the two children out more than 50 yards until they were past the surf buoy.
