AUCKLAND, Dec. 24.

Mr John C. Carrodus, of Melbourne, has been appointed vice-president (South Pacific) of the Intercontinental Hotels Corporation. He will be closely concerned with the £3.5 million hotel which the company is building in Princes street, Auckland. The 350-room hotel will form part of the chain of intercontinental hotels in the Pacific. The chain was recently extended with the opening of the new Pago Pago Intercontinental.

Before joining Intercontinental in 1963, Mr Carrodus was Pan Am’s director for development for Australia and New Zealand.

He will be based in Melbourne.

Carter Consol. Take-over (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 24. Carter Consolidated, Ltd., Auckland timber merchant, has bought the assets of the timber business trading as B. and M. Timbers, Ltd., Waiuku, the directors announce. The consideration was in shares. Carter Consolidated intends to establish a branch at Waiuku, dealing with all major timber and builders’ supply requirements. B. and M. Timbers is an associated company of Waiuku Builders, Ltd., and Buttimore and Millington, Ltd. Last week, Carter Consolidated bought out the share capital of C. R. Lovatt and Sons, Ltd., Whangarei.

Insurance Firms To Merge (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 24. Stenhouse, New Zealand, Ltd., Auckland, and Arden A. Jennings (Insurances), Ltd., of Wellington, registered insurance brokers, are to merger their interests as from April 1. Mr W. Hunt, managing director of Stenhouse, will become chairman of Jennings, and Mr A. Jennings will join the Stenhouse board. Mr Jennings will continue as man-aging-director of Arden A. Jennings. Both companies will continue under their own names. N.Z.U.C. Interim. — New Zealand United Corporation. Wellington underwriters investment bankers and official snortterm money market operators will pay an interim ordinary dividend of 3 per cent on Januarv 20. ex dividend December 29. ' New issue shares do not participate. Last year dividend was 8 per cent.
