New Zealand was considering whether it could offer help in forest development under the Colombo Plan to Malaysia and the countries bordering the Mekong river, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said on Friday. By arrangement with the Mekong Co-ordination Committee in Bangkok, it was agreed that the assistant Director-General of Forests (Mr A. P. Thomson) would visit Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand under Colombo Plan auspices, he said. During his visit of about two months Mr Thomson would investigate forestry in those countries and report to the'■Government on possible forms of assistance which New Zealand might be able to offer. He also would visit Malaysia.
