University And Army Considered For Prince
(N.Z. Press Assn —Copyright) LONDON, December 26. Prince Charles, 17-year-old heir to the throne, may go to university, but some advisers feel he might do better to join one of the military services after he leaves Gordonstoun next year, United Press International reported. This emerged today from a “summit meeting” on the young Prince’s further education held at Buckingham Palace last week. The Queen and the Duke
of Edinburgh called in the Archbishop of Canterbury, Earl Mountbatten of Burma and Professor Str Chartea Wilson to help them decide. The talk over dinner was general and no decisions were taken, U.P.I. said. Professor Wilson, chairman of the committee of university vice-chancellors, presented the advantages at further academic training. Earl Mountbatten, former Chief of the Imperial Staff, offered the military view. The Prince will return to Gordonstoun after a term at Geelong Grammar School, Victoria, early next year.
