PARIS, December 23.
Lawyers representing the Rothschild banking family and the writer, Roger Peyrefitte, today announced an out-of-court settlement in a case over Peyrefitte’s best-seller, “The Jews.” The Rothschilds had filed a suit for the suppression of the book, alleging it contained anecdotes about their family. The case was to have been heard on January 7. The lawyers said the writer had agreed to suppresa from future editions two other passages beside the passage ordered to be cut by a Paris magistrate last July. He was also to give an unspecified donation to a Jewish charity.
