HESS GETS TURKEY
Christmas In Prison
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)
WEST BERLIN, Dec. 26.
Three leading Nazi war criminals were served turkey with all the trimmings at Spandau Prison yesterday. The three —Baldur von Shirach, Albert Speer and Rudolf Hess—are the only occupants of the 600-cell allied war crimes prison. For two of them —von Schiracb, aged 57, Hitler's former youth leader, Speer, aged 59, former armaments minister—it will be the last Christmas in prison. They will be released after having served their 20-year terms on September 30, 1966. Whether the American, British, French and Russians are going to maintain the costly prison just for 70-year old Hess. Hitler’s former deputy serving a life sentence, was not known.
Allied officials hope the Russians will agree to release him.
