FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression to the south of New Zealand is moving south-eastwards and the associated frontal system is moving over the country. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast.— Fresh, cold south-westerlies soon becoming general with scattered showers and some snow in the high country; increasing fair periods this afternoon. Buller and Westland.—Fresh south-west-erlies with cold temperatures and showery periods with scattered hail; snow in the high country. Marlborough.—North-west winds strong at times; partly cloudy weather at first with moderate temperatures; a change to fresh colder southerlies is likely later with some showers. Nelson.—Strong westerlies at first with changeable weather and occasional showers; fresh south-westerlies developing with showery periods and fair intervals and lower temperatures. Outlook: Changeable south-west-erly conditions with showers at times in most' districts. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
