2000 Hay Bales Lost In Fire
Two thousand bales of hay and a hay shed on the Rakaia property of Mr R. T. Smart were destroyed by fire early on Saturday.
Two engines from the Rakaia Volunteer Fire Brigade answered a call at 1.30 a.m. and stood by until 5 a.m.
The shed was insured, but the hay was not.
