INVERCARGILL. Gay Paree in the Summer Handicap and Jockles in the Southland Handicap won the double on the second day of the Invercargill Trotting Club's Christmas meeting on Saturday. They paid £154 15s 6d for £l. Steady rain fell practically throughout the , meeting and the track became heavy late in the day. The weather had a big effect on the attendance and the totalisator turnover, at £27,109, was £12,228 down on the £39,337 handled on the second day last year.
