Keino’s Fast Time
GV.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Dec. 19. Kipchoge Keino. of Kenya, yesterday broke the Australian two-mile record at Sydney. Leading all the way, Keino clocked Bmin 25.25ec, easily lowering the Australian record of Bmin 33sec held by A. Thomas.
The Kenyan's time bettered the official world record, held by R. Schul (United States), at Bmin 26.45ec, but was outside Michel .lazy's Bmin 22.65ec established in June, and awaiting recognition. Keino had raced only once previously over two miles, in 1962, when be finished third to B. Tulloh (Britain) and R. Clarke (Australia), clocking Bmin 52.25ec. Keino's rival in mile races during their recent New Zealand tour. Jurgen May (East Germany), won the 880 yards in Imin 50.2 sec.
