Run Feast In M.C.C.’s Win
, (A’.Z. Press ton—Copyright) BATHURST. In a spate of run-hitting late in the day, the M.C.C. piled on 256 runs in 142 minutes to beat a Western New South Wales Country XI at Bathurst on Saturday.
The one-day game produced 477 runs in 296 minutes in some of the brightest cricket in which the M.C.C. team has played.
The Country batsmen were also in a dashing mood, scoring 221 in 154 minutes. The M.C.C. was in some bother when it lost four wickets for 110, and a fifth with the score at 132. 124 Runs In Hour However, J. H. Edrich and K. F. Barrington settled down to take on the Country attack and put on 124 in less than an hour. The Country spinner, W. Britton, who had caused the early collapse, taking three for 13 at one stage, was heavily punished and finished with three for 79. Barrington hit eight fours and a six in his 61, scored in 60 minutes. Edrich was 67 not out and delighted the big crowd with his eight fours and three great sixes. The Country side batted first on a perfect pitch, putting on the first 100 in 102 minutes, the 150 in 123 minutes. and the 200 in 146 minutes.
The 24-year-old Appin batsman. T. Bourke, who played for the Country seconds last year, gave a great all-round display of hitting after a quiet start. He scored 64 in 61 minutes and hit 12 fours. The M.C.C. bowler. J. D. F. Larter, playing his first match after an injury, was not im-
