First Flight “Not Bad”
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 17. A 99-year-old Welsh woman who claims to be “as fit as a fiddle” completed her first flight—from Landon to Auckland—today saying: “It wasn't bad.” Mrs Sarah Lewis, who will be 100 in July, was met by her daughter, Mrs Grace Britton, of Epsom, and her son-in-law.
Mrs Lewis, whose home is In Cardiff, Wales, said she keeps fit with breathing exercises every morning and can still touch her toes. “But I'm a bit tired after this flight." she told her daughter at the airport. “I did some knitting on the plane when we couldn’t see anything.”
