WHEAT FOR INDIA
Canada Asked For Supply (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW DELHI, Dec. 19. India has asked Canada for increased wheat supplies to help meet a growing food crisis. Authoritative sources said the request was made by the Food Minister, Mr C. Subramaniam, in talks with the Canadian High Commissioner, Mr Roland Michener. No specific tonnage was mentioned, but it was thought unlikely that Canada would be able to supply anything like the massive quantity of two million tons suggested in reports by some Toronto newspapers.
