ORBITING THE SUN
(N.Z. Prtti Asm. —Copyright) PASADENA, Dec. 17. The United States yesterday shot a 1401 b Pioneer satellite into orbit around the sun.
It was reported to be “performing flawlessly.” The Pioneer, launched only a few hours after the United States held the first rendezvous in space, began sending information about cosmic rays after it went into orbit. The data will be vital to spacemen in future interplanetary travel.
