Wigram Technical Wing Has New Commander

Squadron Leader D. Crowe, of Christchurch has been appointed officer commanding the technical wing at the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Wigram. He succeeds Wing Commander J. Rees, who will retire from the Air Force at the end of this month.

Squadron Leader Crowe has been commander of the engineering squadron at Wigram. He joined the Air Force in 1937 as a fitter’s mate. After basic training at Trentham he was posted to Wigram where he worked in the aircraft repair section. In 1940, he was posted to Rongotai on a training course, before serving at Woodbourne for three years. Later he served in the base workshops at Guadacanal. After being commissioned in 1950 he spent two years at the R.A.F. College, Henlow. In 1952, he returned to Woodbourne as a training officer at the No. 4 Technical Training School.
