ATTACK ON MILE
May, Keino Again (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. It appears certain that the twentieth sub-four-minute mile in New Zealand will be run at Western Springs tonight when the world record could be in jeopardy, although the winner is in doubt.
This remarkable set of circumstances has come about through the dramatic return to form of the East German, Jurgen May, at Wanganui on Saturday, when he unleased a 3min 53.8 sec mile, outstripping the Kenyan, Kipchoge Keino, in the home straight. Keino will face him again in the mile tonight It should be interesting to see bow Keino performs as many people, including the coach, Mr A L Lydiard, hold that his hard pre-race training at Wanganui weakened him.
