Films For Expert
Because Professor C. Buchanan, the British planning consultant engaged to visit Christchurch and report to the City Council on the master transport plan, will be in the city from January 2 to January 14, dty traffle will be quiet. Concerned that Professor Buchanan would not be "getting the feel” of the dty, the traffic or its people, the eoundl agreed last evening that typical conditions should be filmed, possibly from a helicopter. While Professor Buchanan was in the dty traffic and pedestrian vol. umes would be almost non-existent and an outside observer would be quite unable to gain a
real impression of a nermil Christchurch street scene, the city development committee said. Professor Buchanan would have access to all relevant reporta and statistical data, but to enable him to "get the feel” of the place the beet way would be to have a film showing aa much as possible of typical conditions. The committee thought a film should shew exam pies of key intersection complexes such as the Carlton Mill corner, important radial routes such as Papanul, Ferry and Lincoln roods, the four belts, typical central streets and pedestitan and vehicle movements to Cathedral square and Colombo street
