Accidentally Shot
(N.Z. Frets Association)
NELSON, Dec. 9.
A boy up a tree in Nayland road yesterday was accidentally shot in the leg with a .177 air rifle.
The slug penetrated nearly two inches into the calf of the boy’s left leg, coming to rest against the bone. The boy, 12-year-old Ken Robinson, a Waimea intermediate pupil, was taken to Nelson Hospital, where the slug was to be removed in an operation today. His father, Mr K. J. Robinson, said Ken was with two companions who were on the ground at the time of the accident, about 5.30 p.m. One of the companions owned the high-powered air rifle, but it was the third boy who was holding it.
