Christchurch Girls’ High School Prize-Giving

One of the difficulties to aa •ge at crowinc apedaUotion was to keep a true liberal concept of education, and to bold the balance between subjects, said the headmirtreee of Christchurch Giris’ High School (Miss P. M. Botomson) in her annual report

presented at the prize-giving ceremony last evening. Many fifth form pupils would prefer to drop chemistry or be quit of history because they “were not going on with that subject,** Miss Robinson said, but the school insisted that they hold both arts and science subjects at that level.

Miss Robinson said it was planned to offer an option of a second science or a second language next year, so thet girts going on to a full science course in the sixth form would not be handicapped by having to start two new subjects at that stage.
