Second Accident In Week
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 26. A heavy articulated truck, loaded with 30 tons of wet clay, left a trail of destruction when it careered down a steep slope from the Princes street hotel site this morning. The driver. Mr H. T. Gra-
ham, made a vain bid to reach < the cab of the truck as it gathered speed, mounti ' a kerb and headed down street. He had parked the truck on the excavation site and was cleaning the wheels when it began to move. The truck went down the bank in an empty section in Anzac avenue. It left behind it a shattered power pole which brought down power and trolley bus lines. i An eight-inch water main
was fractured when the pole was ripped up. More than 100 telephones were cut off, three parking meters demolished and several fences broken. Luckily there were no buses in the area at the time. Mr Graham was the driver of the truck which on Tuesday fouled high-tension lines in Ellerslie. He escaped, but the tyres of the truck burned as 6600 volts' surged through the vehicle.
