The Argentine Government acted swiftly yesterday to avoid a military crisis after the resignation of the Arm strongman, Lieutenant-General Juan Carlos Ongania.
President Arturo Illia last night accepted General Ongania’s resignation as Army Commander-in-Chief.
General Ongania resigned over the appointment of a lower-ranking officer to the post of War Office Chief.
