Two girls were sentenced to Borstal training when they appeared before Mr E. S. J. Crutcbley, S.M, in the Children's Court last month. One, aged 15, was charged with arson, and the other, aged 16. was charged with unlawful lv taking a cycle. On a charge of burglary a girl aged 16 was placed on probation, as was a boy of similar age on a charge of receiving. - On a complaint that they were living in an invironnient detrimental to their physical well-being, three children, their ages ranging from two to five, were committed to the care oi the Superintendent of Child Welfare. A similar decision was given in the cases of two girls aged four and six, who were deemed to be indigent children, a boy, of 15. who appeared on a complaint that he was not under proper control, and a boy, of 14, charged with burglary and theft. Six girls, aged 14 to 17, were admonished and returned to the Superintendent of Child Welfare on charges of unlawfully taking cycles. They were also fined £5 each. Also admonished and returned were a 14-year-old boy on a charge of assault and a 15-year-old boy on a charge of forgery. Supervision Three girls, aged four to nine, and a boy aged two, were placed under supervision of the Child Welfare Officer for two years on a complaint that they were indigent children. Four girls, aged between two and 14, and two boys aged seven and eight, who were found to be not under proper control were also placed under supervision for two years. Similarly dealt with were two 14-year-old girls, one charged with theft and the other charged with unlawfully taking a bicycle; a boy aged 14, charged with unlawfully taking a car, and a boy, aged 12, who appeared on four charges of theft Twelve months’ extension of supervision was ordered when a 14-year-old boy admitted a charge of unlawfully getting into a motorcar.

Seven boys, aged 12 to 17, charged with theft were admonished and discharged, as were three boys, aged 14 to 16, who appeared on burglary charges. Also admonished and discharged were two boys aged 12, and a boy, aged 14, charged with indecent acts a girl, aged 11, on a charge of receiving, a boy of nine and a girl, of 14, on complaints that they were not under proper control, a 14-year-old boy charged with wilful damage and disorderly behaviour, a 16-year-old boy charged with fighting in a public place, a boy, aged 15, who discharged a missle, and another boy, aged 15, charged with possession of intoxicating liquor. Fines Imposed On a charge of driving at a speed which might have been dangerous a boy aged 16, was fined £5, as were two other boys of similar age charged with theft.
