Third Vault Over 14ft
(N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI. D. McGonagle, of Wanganui, became the third New Zealander to clear 14ft in the pole vault when he achieved 14ft o£in in the weekly meeting of the Wanganui Athletic Club at Cook’s Gardens. McGonagle, who is seeking selection for the Empire Games team, narrowly failed with three attempts at 14ft 4in. The other New Zealanders to clear the 14ft mark are M. H. Richards (Otago) and K. F. Gibbons (New Plymouth).
