A former high-ranking South Vietnamese Army officer sentenced in his absence tc 20 years’ gaol for his part > as attempted coup against General Nguyen Khanh early this year, gave himself up last night a reliable source said today. Huynh Van Ton, once described by the Prime Minister, General Nguyen Cao Ky as a “coup specialist" had been in hiding since the coup failed on February 19. In May he and nearly 40 others were given sentences ranging from death to short prison terms.
