BUILDING DEFERRED
Protest From Four M.P.s
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Nov. 26.
Four Auckland Members of Parliament have telegraphed the Minister of Works (Mr Allen) deploring the building programmer’s decision to defer for three years, a start on the new Auckland central library. Messrs N. V. Douglas (Auckland Central), R. Macdonald (Grey Lynn), A. J. Faulkner (Mount Roskill), and M. Rata (Northern Maori) said in their telegram: “We find it irreconcilable that 10 luxury flats, costing £250,000, are considered essential, while a library catering for the reading, education and cultural needs of 500,000 people is' declared nonessential.”
