Queen Mother To Spend 18 Days In New Zealand

(New Zealand Prc.t« Association?

WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. The Queen Mother will arrive at Bluff in the Royal yacht Britannia on the morning of April 16 and will leave from Auckland International Airport on May 4.

Announcing the Queen Mother’s itinerarytoday, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said she would divide her time equally between the North and South Islands.

Mr Holyoake said the itinerary was planned to permit the maximum use of the Royal yacht as the Queen Mother’s travelling home in New Zealand.

The itinerary achieved a good balance between the Queen Mother’s desire to meet as many people as possible and the wish of New Zealanders that her visit be as relaxing as possible. The recent loss by fire of the Tourist Hotel Corporation hotel at Te Anau meant that

the South Island rest period would be spent at Lake Wanaka instead of at Lake Te Anau. The North Island rest period would still be spent in the Taupo district, as planned in 1964, but at Wairakei, instead of Tokaanu.

He said he knew there would be some disappointment on the part of communities which could not be included in the itinerary. It was not possible, however, to satisfy all the many requests for visits which had been made.

The itinerary is:— April 16: At Invercargill, evening, leaving on the Britannia for Dunedin.

April 17: Arrive Dunedin (morning), spend day in Dunedin.

April 18: At Dunedin.

April 19: Leave by air for Alexandra (morning), leave Alexandra for Wanaka (afternoon).

April 20 and 21: At Wanaka.

April 22: Leave for Queenstown (morning), leave Queenstown by air for Timaru (evening); leave in the Britannia for Lyttelton. April 23: Arrive Lyttelton (morning).

April 24: At Christchurch. Leave by the Britannia for Wellington (evening). April 25: Arrive Wellington (morning). April 26: At Wellington. April 27: Leave by air for Wanganui via Palmerston North (morning).

April 28: Leave for Wairakei via Raetihi and Taupo (morning). April 29: At Wairakei. April 30: Leave for Rotorua (morning). Leave by air for Hamilton (afternoon).

May 1: At Hamilton. May 2: Leave by air for Auckland to rejoin Britannia. May 3: At Auckland. May 4: Leave New Zealand.
