FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A frontal zone is moving over New Zealand followed by changeable westerlies. Forecast to midnight:
Canterbury.—Westerly winds, fresh and gusty at times; partly cloudy; mild weather predominating but some showery periods in the western ranges and possibly a colder south-west change in South Canterbury late in the day. Outlook for Sunday: mainly fair.
Buller and Westland.—Westerlies, fresh and gusty at times; changeable with showery periods but some fair intervals, especially early in the day; cooler temperatures. Outlook: showery south-westerlies.
Nelson and Marlborough.—North-west to west winds, fresh to strong in exposed places; mainly fine on the Kaikoura coast; elsewhere areas of rain this morning, becoming partly cloudy later except for scattered showers on the ranges; moderate to mild temperatures. Outlook: west to south-west winds, with scattered showers, mainly on the high country. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
