Borgward Cars
Sir, Christchurch car dealers are currently advertising 1961 and 1962 Borgward cars for sale. I am told that Borgward “packed up” in late 1959 or early 1960, and that the last cars to come to New Zealand would have got here not later than June, 1960. Can your motoring editor advise? —Yours, etc., AH. November 23, 1965. [The former agents for Borgward cars, Croydon Motors, Ltd., said that the Borgward factory at Bremen closed in August, 1961. No Borgward cars were made in 1962, but there could have been several Borgwards first registered in New Zealand in 1962.]
