Death Within An Hour

INVERCARGILL, Nov. 26. The two eldest brothers of one of Invercargill’s pioneering families, Messrs Andrew and Thomas Gilkison, died within an hour of each other yesterday—Mr Andrew Gilkison in Invercargill and Mr Thomas Gilkison in Auckland.
Mr Thomas Gilkison was 88 and Mr Andrew Gilkison 84. They were sons of Mr Peter Gilkison, who came to Southland at the age of 16 in 1861.
Both men spent most of their lives in the service of the family firm of J. E. Watson and Company, stock and station and shipping agents, Invercargill.
Pedestrian Injured.—A pedestrian, Mr A. Drozdowski, of 126 Lincoln road, was taken to Christchurch Hospital late yesterday afternoon with injuries suffered when he was struck by a car near his home about 4.45 p.m. Mr Drozdowski suffered abrasions to his head and shoulders. He was later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital. His condition last night was comfortable.
