To Ride At Trentham
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE.
The leading Melbourne jockey, R. Higgins, who rode Light Fingers to victory in this year’s Melbourne Cup, plans a trip to New Zealand for the Wellington Cup in January.
“I have not been to New Zealand and would like to ride at the Wellington Cup meeting,” Higgins said. He said he had been promised mounts at Trentham on January 22, 24, and 29 by several New Zealand trainers. He hoped to spend two weeks in New Zealand.
Higgins rode successfully in France two years ago.
