THREE ADVANCE BRABIN CLAIMS

Three players who have yet to play Brabin Cup cricket for Canterbury advanced their claims in yesterday’s trial match at Hagley Park.

Foremost among these was the Christchurch Boys’ High School batsman, R. W. Anderson, who was the only player to pass 40. He made 79 for the side captained by P. A. Stubbings. W. N. Wilder, the Old Collegians off-spinner, took five wickets for little cost for C. L. Bull’s team, and the Xavier College slow left-arm bowler, C. Kirk, also demonstrated some ability with the ball when taking four wickets later in the day. D. G. Trist had the most success of the faster bowlers, although P. Cosgrove came to light with two wickets in one over just before stumps. C. L. Bull's side requires 37 runs for a lead, with two wickets in hand. Scores:— PROBABLES First Innings P.
