Mr Leggat Chairman
Mr J. G. Leggat, the former chairman of the New Zealand cricket selection panel, was elected chairman of the board of control of the New Zealand Cricket Council on Saturday. On the first ballot Mr Leggat and Mr W. A. Hadlee —the only nominees—tied. Mr Hadlee then said he would be prepared to support Mr Leggat’s nomination and asked if his nomination could be withdrawn. Mr Leggat. who has represented Canterbury and New Zealand as an opening batsman, has been a member of the board of control since 1957.
Freedom.—The former President of Dahomey, Mr Hubert Maga, has been freed from restriction on the orders of President Justin Ahomadegbe. Mr Maga has been in forced residence since December, 1963, after the overthrow of his Government in this West African republic of Dahomey.—Cotonov, November 21.
