MORE STRESS ON BIBLE
Pope Issues Decrees (N 7. P.A.-Reuter—Copyright > VATICAN CITY, Nov. 21. Pope Paul has issued to the world two major Vatican Council decrees which put more stress on the Bible and on the laity in Church life. The most important was a 5000-word decree entitled “Divine Revelation," which says the Bible must become a new stimulus for Roman Catholics. The document, born of debates over the last three years, aims at increasing points of contact with Protestants and other Christians in its theological approach to Scripture. The other decree is meant to bridge the gap between the clergy in the Church and the ordinary lay people who make up most of its 500 million followers.
