Use Of Force In Rhodesia (N.Z. Preus AsxociattOTil DUNEDIN. Nov. 21. Force as a solution to the Rhodesian crisis should only be used as a last resort, an African delegate to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference, said yesterday. He was Mr Gwanda Chanuamba. a member of Parliament from Malawi. However, he subscribed to the criticism made by other African delegates of the lack of positive action by the British Government. “Right now the whole problem of the rebel regime in Rhodesia and the different solutions being offered is like a jig-saw puzzle.” Mr Chanuamba said that the solution lay not in the use of force but in firm action with all interested nations acting together.
Another delegate, Mr L. J. Ngobeh, a member of the Sierra Leone Parliament, said Britain could have done much more to avert the crisis.
“I believe that if the question is not resolved promptly by Britain it will be resolved by the intervention of other African nations,” he said.
