PINEAPPLES FROM COOKS
400 Cases Next Week About 400 cases of Cook Island pineapples are expected to arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday. A small shipment of the pineapples is due at Auckland today, on the Moanaroa, and some will be railed to the South Island by the Aramoana. Christchurch’s share will be sold by auction and not at fixed price. The last consignment of pineapples came from Hawaii in September. The Tarawera was due on Monday, with Australian oranges but has been delayed at Auckland because of a dispute. Oranges are in keen demand. Bananas from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga are due on the Argentinian Reefer on December 8. Fruit and produce merchants expect the present good supply of bananas to continue for about another week. A very small consignment of early cherries, from Blenheim, has come on to the market, and strawberries are flown from Auckland daily. Local cherries and strawberries will not be available in any quantity for about a fortnight yet. All types of seasonal vegetables are in good supply.
Terrorists Active.—A Public Health Department Arab worker was shot dead yesterday as he drove through Aden’s Crater district, the third terrorist killing in three days. On Monday an Arab police corporal died and the previous night a prison warder was gunned down. — Aden, Nov. 17.
