Pries Of Wool Slightly Easier

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 17. / Hopes by growers of a further substantial fce in the price of wool were not fulfilled at jfie second main sale of the Auckland season today.

/With an offering which was Generally poorer in quality than in October, the market ftended to be erratic and valves over-all were slightly easier than they were at Nanier last week. today's prices were broadly eanparable with those obtsined by Auckland growers ti October. Official Report The official report issued by the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission, says 25,696 bales of new season’s greasy wool contained in five catalogues were submitted to auction. They comprised full-length ewe and wether wools, hogget wool and second-shear in equal proportions plus the usual oddments. Some Good Lines

Although the offering was not equal in standard to the October sale, many good lines were in evidence. Hogget wools were generally wellgrown and of good, average style but with some hint of water stain.

Fleece wools opened up fairly well but again water stain spoilt some otherwise attractive lines.

Competition within limits was well spread throughout the day with Continental buyers supported by America and by Japan on lines suited to their requirements, uplift-

tog the bulk of the offering. Compared with last week’s sale ait Napier, this Auckland market was generally to buyers’ favour except for wellprepared and attractive lines which were about steady.

Second-shear which was only of average style and short in staple, declined by 2j per cent. Passings around 8 per cent of the offering were recorded to the saleroom but a number of these lines for which the price bid was near the reserve price were sold in subsequent negotiation. Price Range The official price range is:
